Cooperstown, NY and Rye, NY are more than 200 miles apart. The beers of Ommegang will have to wait.
Oh well, I think I'll make it a Belgian style weekend anyway and enjoy some of what our friends at Allagash have to offer.
The 2007 Oxford word of the year is "locavore", a word coined by 4 women in San Francisco who are committed to eating only food grown or produced within a 100 mile radius.Since this movement is about consumption and reducing environmental impact (shipping over long distance requires more fuel) and I consume a fair amount of beer, I've decided to be a "beer locavore".
After a 2008 in which I drank only beer brewed within a 100 mile radius of where I was standing or barstool sitting (with occasional slip-ups), I will transform to being locavore-friendly in 2009.
