The 2007 Oxford word of the year is "locavore", a word coined by 4 women in San Francisco who are committed to eating only food grown or produced within a 100 mile radius.Since this movement is about consumption and reducing environmental impact (shipping over long distance requires more fuel) and I consume a fair amount of beer, I've decided to be a "beer locavore".
After a 2008 in which I drank only beer brewed within a 100 mile radius of where I was standing or barstool sitting (with occasional slip-ups), I will transform to being locavore-friendly in 2009.

I've been hoping for some exciting locavore news out of the Washington trip. On the flip side, I expect Florida is beer locavore hell. Michelob Dark, anyone?
Good thing your pledge isn't more comprehensive; I hate to imagine you trying to drink locally made wine down there...
