Unfortunately I have a leg injury and will be unable to participate in the first event (not pictured here) of the Beerathalon this week. I'll have to make up for it by hammering the second event.
The 2007 Oxford word of the year is "locavore", a word coined by 4 women in San Francisco who are committed to eating only food grown or produced within a 100 mile radius.
Since this movement is about consumption and reducing environmental impact (shipping over long distance requires more fuel) and I consume a fair amount of beer, I've decided to be a "beer locavore".
After a 2008 in which I drank only beer brewed within a 100 mile radius of where I was standing or barstool sitting (with occasional slip-ups), I will transform to being locavore-friendly in 2009.
